Will the two do be the volume seller. Nope. Am I’m 100% happy to see this. YUUUP.

Indeed

I’m assuming this is a “sp
y shot” of the new bronco somewhere? The 2-door is pleasing for sure. Those tires need some work.

And on poverty wheels

I’m starting to get excited. Seeing it on some real tires and the front end will make or break it.

I’m guessing by the wheels and plastic unpainted trim that this is the bababa- bass model. So cheap tires would make sense.

Where do you think I stole the picture?
This one came from the comments section tho.
I just don’t like to comment on Jalopnik anymore. A view that seems pretty universal here.

I like em. I even have a thing for base model Wranglers. I knew some one with a red unlimited S. I commented once about how I loved that it was on steelies and small tires.
The own said “those tires take me everywhere I need to go and don’t cost 300 bucks each. I just done see the need for giant off road tires if you’re not going to Moab.”

Understandable; I wanted to share the link in case anyone else was interested in seeing more.

Good call

I saw a pretty nicely optioned current-gen Suburban the other day on gray steelies with snow tires. I really liked the look. They’re probably 17" steelies, but still. Good look.

So a Ford Wrangler, then?

Well I’d sure hope so.

Why do I get the feeling it’s going to end up selling for some stupid-high price?
![]() 03/05/2020 at 22:38 |

Clearly retro inspired as I think I can still buy those rubber flares by the metre...

As long as there’s enough supply it should be good. The only way I could see it being stupid expensive is if Dealers jack up the price just because they can, and that only “works” if supply can’t meet demand.

Lets see if Ford can avoid the mistakes Jeep made on their recent products, mainly offering more than just the most loaded models at first. Offering a poverty spec 2 door along with a loaded 4 door.

I wonder how they will try and differentiate from the wrangler? The engine choices seem to be about it. Will be interesting to see if there is room for 2 competitors in this narrow space or if Ford put more/less emphasis in on road use.

I imagine that’ll be the case like anything brand new - immediate dealer markups, but they will eventually fall as supply increases. But for some reason I get the feeling that this will be more of one of those “we’ll price it at what the market will bear” not “we’ll price it lower than the Jeep, and hope it sells more”.
![]() 03/06/2020 at 00:33 |

Well Bantam came up with it and Willys and Ford made all the original Jeeps, so maybe a real Jeep.

Is that the wheel arch trim or some kind of production protection? They look shitty.

FP has indicated it looks like it’ll have an independent front suspension, so that alone will set it well ahead of the Wrangler in terms of on-road comfort, although each generation of the Jeeps gets less jarring, from all reports.
I think that’s the right choice: I like the simplicity of a solid front axle conceptually, but I’m never going to take my LJ on anything that IFS wouldn’t easily handle.

Did not see the mention of the front suspension! I felt like Ford should have targeted a Land Rover lite with a removable roof.

Looks to be the same as the Rang er base model.

Up until now I didn't think they would actually go full convertible and straight go for Wrangler sales. Huh, actually impressed.
